Lilac Pâtisserie: A Gluten-Free Haven for Delicious Desserts and Breakfast in Santa Barbara

This is a great Gluten friendly cafe/bakery. We come here from LA at least twice a year and is our primary destination. The staff is friendly and the food is great. However it's the pastries you want to come back for! They are delicious! And they have a great variety!

The ambiance of the place is cute. It was initially hard to find most especially if you rely on navigating to the place. The quiche was really good! My daughter enjoyed the waffles and if you are one who enjoys waffles with a cake like texture you will enjoy these. Service was fast too and the place isnt too busy the time we visited. I was so full but i plan to come back next time to try their cakes which are beautifully displayed. They have a variety to choose from too!

Lilac is a great brunch spot on state street. It does get busy so I like to go earlier in the morning, but it's definitely worth a wait. Great coffee and lattes. My brother is celiac so having a dedicated GF restaurant is such an amazing experience for him. He is never happier than he is at Lilac with French toast, cookies and lemon bars!

My husband and I were in Santa Barbara for a few days. We stopped at a local coffee shop and a customer waiting for their order overheard me ask the cashier if they had gluten-free options...they had two. Well, this kind woman told me if I want great gluten-free food, go to Lilac Patisserie. So the next morning we were there. Talk about being in the right place at the right time. That woman overhearing me has made me a huge fan of Lilac Patisserie. Our breakfasts were excellent. I have been gluten-free for over seven years and the breakfast was by far the best gluten-free breakfast I have ever had. My husband is not gluten-free and he said he could not taste the difference. The ambiance is warm and friendly. The service was professional and we didn't feel rushed to order. The line was long now and then while we were there but the meal was worth the wait. We did not have to wait for a table. There is inside and outside seating. We even purchased some baked goods to bring back home to Los Angeles with us. Lilac Patisserie is a MUST every time we visit Santa Barbara.

Great place to grab a pastry and a coffee for a snack. I've seen people order other foods but I haven't had a chance to try them yet. I'm especially impressed with the gluten free options here. They taste amazing and each time I'm in disbelief that they're gluten free. I've even bought the GF flour they sell here to bake my own cookies at home. No, they weren't as good as the Patisserie, but they were far better than the standard bags of GF flour at the grocery store. I plan to come again to explore more of the menu!

Decided on this place just walking down State street, looking for someplace to sit down and eat breakfast. Full bakery and cafe. I ordered my food and drink, paid at the counter, took my number, and found a nice table outside. Latte was delivered first. Pretty heart design. My latte was hot and tasty. My Croque Monsieur and side salad were delivered afterwards. My meal tasted great as well. Great place for breakfast. Clean restrooms with passcode doors.

Lilac is a fun patisserie located right in the heart of Santa Barbara on State Street. This place has some very good bakery items as well as some very nice breakfast, brunch, and lunch choices. The food here is always well prepared, with a nice presentation, and created with top-notch ingredients. In terms of seating, they have a lot of it. They have a large interior space that spreads across two rooms. Plus, they have a large outdoor area where you can eat along the sidewalk, giving this patisserie a true Cali/European feel. The staff here is always nice and helpful. They will be glad to guide you towards what will make your dining pleasure a success. Lilac can get fairly crowded, however. So you need to keep that in mind. A lot of times there's a fairly long line to order. Which, for some people, does seem to take a long-long time. But overall, if you're willing to wait a little bit, you're gonna enjoy what you have to eat and drink. Fun spot!
